The primary difference lies in the length of the branch (or "leg") of the tee fitting. A long butt-weld tee has a longer branch, while a short butt-weld tee has a shorter branch.

● Long Butt-Weld Tee: The branch is longer, typically 1.5 times the nominal diameter of the pipe. It is used in applications requiring a longer branch to better control flow or when the tee serves as a connection point for a longer section of pipe.
